I grew up with horrible migraines that would last for a day or more at a time. I remember well the sensitivity to light, the nausea, the unrelenting and debilitating pain. The assumption was that they were hormonal based, but nobody really could account for a reason as to why they were occurring. My doctors simply said I would grow out of it. So around age 18, they became less severe, but I would still get horrible headaches every other day. With the help of NSAIDS, Tylenol and aspirin, I just learned to live with the pain. The headaches became more severe migraine like again when I started to go back to college.
It wasn’t until I happened to visit a chiropractor (for a painful foot of all reasons) that I began to feel, what I soon learned was, “normal”. The Chiropractor had simply located my subluxations in my spine and feet and so corrected them through adjustments. After my first few visits, my foot pain was gone and I was amazed. I was amazed because previously I had visited a podiatrist who wanted to charge me thousands of dollars for everything from orthotics to neuroma surgery on my foot. For a student with no insurance that was too hefty a price to pay. I was also amazed because not long after seeing the Chiropractor, I also began to notice I had no need to pop my precious over the counter pain pills anymore. My headaches became less severe and frequent until they were finally gone. What a nice surprise! I never expected that to happen.
My horrible studying posture, in addition to other body stressors, had made me vulnerable to the headaches. So clearly, school was giving me a headache! But school didn’t give me a headache anymore after completing my treatment program with my Chiropractor. After all those years of feeling sick, I couldn’t believe the answer was as simple as getting regular chiropractic adjustments.
That experience changed my life forever and so I felt a need to spread the chiropractic word by becoming a Chiropractor. Along the way I met my wonderful husband, Dr Josh Walker. We both attended and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, Ca, and now have three beautiful children. Our practice is based on a combination of diversified techniques and nutritional protocols in order to obtain the most optimum quality outcome for our patients.
